1. Our goats are sold on a first come first serve basis. We do keep an "interest list" but we no longer keep a waitlist/reservation list anymore. Once said kid is listed available and a buyer commits to a goat kid, a non-refundable deposit which is 50% of the full purchasing price, is due immediately and then the rest "IN CASH" at pickup. PLEASE UNDERSTAND, WE DO NOT HOLD KIDS OR ADULT GOATS WITHOUT A DEPOSIT! This means until a deposit is made, the GOAT(S) IS/ARE STILL AVAILABLE!!!
We reserve the right to cancel any sales agreement, sale offers, or inquiries that we feel is not a suitable match. In that case, the deposit will be returned, if one had been made. Deposit will also be returned in the event of unforeseen flaw, illness, or death while still in HCP care.
If the kid has not been picked up within the established time frame, a $5 boarding fee will be tact onto the remaining balance for each additional day the kid has not been picked up. If the goat has not been picked up 2 weeks after the original pick up date, you forfeit the purchase agreement (including deposits that have been made) and the goat will be placed back up for sale. This too also pertains to adult goat sales.
2. With the constant rise of feed costs and care, we NO LONGER offer discounts on multiple goat purchases.
3. We reserve the right to retain any kid born on the farm, regardless of reservations. Kids are bottle fed and will be let go to their new homes on the bottle at 4 weeks of age. If purchasing a wether from us, it is the buyer's responsibility to make arrangements to have the wether castrated! We are more than happy to help by banding (by appointment only) when the bottle baby becomes of age. THIS MEANS, at the time the buckling is departing the farm he will be still intact until he hits the appropriate age (we recommend waiting until 10-12 weeks old) to be banded. You are more than welcome to bring the buckling back to our farm to be banded at no additional cost but MUST BE by appointment only!!!
4. BIOSECURITY: The goats are well cared for and healthy when leaving the farm. That being said, "we cannot guarantee the health of the goat after it has left our farm nor the future quality of the animal is guaranteed." It is the buyer's responsibility to take on the proper care of those they take home!! For this reason, is why all sales are final and will not accept returns. Only acceptance for returns is if the goat has been tested negative of diseases and has proof of negative result. Due to this we do not offer stud services either. Please take note: due to Liability and Biosecurity reasons, "we no longer allow farm visits on our farm!!" We are more than happy to send as many pictures/videos requested. Also, we will gladly answer any questions and present any information for those interested. We also do not administer CDT vaccines anymore. We feel a goats immune system is much stronger without it.
5. Goats leaving the farm will be disbudded (unless naturally polled or buyer requests horns, which in case of requesting horns, the request needs to be made at an appropriate time and due to limited demand for horns, we require the full purchase amount of the kid at the time of request, (preferably prior to kidding because we disbud kids as early as 3 days old)), have their coccidia prevention, tattooed, and will go home with some grain (if currently being fed grain at the time of departure).
Note: Stress of travel, stress of new environment, or any other stressful event will cause worm blooms in goats, so therefore, we HIGHLY encourage having a fecal done within the first week of arriving home with your new goats to perform the proper deworming treatment (by either vet or having it sent off yourself to a lab (we recommend "MeadowMist Lab Service" or "MidAmerica Ag Research".))
6. For buyers purchasing outside of Maryland state line and are in need of transport, it is solely your responsibility to set up and pay for upon time the animal is due to be picked up. "GOAT(S) ARE TO BE PAID IN FULL PRIOR TO THE TIME OF DEPARTURE!" Usually CVI's are required to cross over state lines, this too is the buyers responsibility to request a CVI and is financially responsible for obtaining one (typically around $83/goat). You can contact our vet, Muddy Creek Veterinary Service at 443-684-7001.
7. Goats are herd animals and do not do well by themselves. We will not sell individual goats unless the buyer has existing goats. If not, expect to purchase two goats. Ideally, having three is best. in cases one falls ill, injured, or worse, dies, the others still have each other and is not left alone. 8. "New Goat Buyers:" we ask to please do your research before making a purchase from us! There are plenty of websites to read up on these wonderful animals. For example, www.thriftyhomesteader.com, www.fiascofarm.com and www.betterhensandgarden.com all are fantastic sites to read up on everything you need to know about goats. Facebook has GREAT goat groups for obtaining information and ideas. We have found following "Winters Ridge Farm" on Facebook, has helped a ton! They post informative goat subjects and fellow goat breeders/enthusiasts comment their knowledge and/or experience with that topic. Totally recommend checking them out!
Thank you for your interest in our farm!
